To answer briefly, it’s irrelevant. Parents are not included within the universe of the AU so it doesn’t really matter who they are.

Daycarestuck focuses on their daycare life. If I were to include home life we might call it Homestuck (pfffahahah) Yeah… Nothing else really exists except for a daycare and the people in the daycare. The fun part about that is anything you assume about the outside world is automatically true!
